A common misconception about Duruchigi is that pork that has red pepper paste and vegetables added to it can be called Duruchigi, but in reality, Duruchigi refers to a dish that has uncooked vegetables and pork mixed together and then cooked down with meat broth and/or seasonings.

In other words, the raw ingredients taste relatively alive compared to pork bulgogi or stir-fried pork, which are often cooked after being marinated.

Therefore it falls somewhere in the middle of Jeongol (Hot Pot) and Jeyuk Bokkeum (Korean Spicy Pork Stir-Fry). In fact, since there is no constant state of the meal, adding kimchi can produce great results. Because of this, many kids are able to make a small kimchi jiggae at school by adding duruchigi to their soup.
